Cell Phone Photography Presented by Steve Manchook

Cell Phone Photography Presented by Steve Manchook In-Person

Discover how to take better photos with your cell phone during this two-hour how-to course presented by photographer Steve Manchook.  This is a basic course exploring the advantages and limitations of the popular cell phone camera. The first half of the presentation is a primer on the technical aspects of the cell phone. The second half deals with the aesthetic (artistic) aspects of image making including lighting, composition, post-production software, black and white conversions, and much more.

Bio from Steve Manchook:

In 1961, I was introduced to the magic of photography and the darkroom through a childhood friend. Setting up a home B&W lab very early on, I enjoyed photography as a hobby, later working on my high school newspaper, yearbook staff and serving as president of my high school camera club. In 1973 I attended the Naval School of Photography in Pensacola, Florida and spent four years in aerial reconnaissance. After the service I spent over a decade as a part time wedding, portrait and commercial photographer. Somewhere in the mid-90’s, I caught the judging bug and began judging local photographic competitions. In 1998, I obtained my first home computer system complete with a flatbed scanner and Photoshop v4.0. Learning this complex program became a lifelong pursuit. In 2000, I bought my first digital camera and closed the darkroom permanently. In 2009, a friend encouraged me to teach photography. I am now instructing in both photography and Photoshop. Although New England is my favorite away-from-home destination, the majority of my images are derived from scenes right here at home in northeast Ohio.
