Eclectic Imaging with Photographer Steve Manchook In-Person
Back by request : Photographer Steve Manchook will demonstrate eclectic imaging that can be captured on a cell phone or digital camera.
Eclectic Imaging
Taken from over 20+ years of digital imaging, this presentation will be a mix of subject matter that has captured my eye and lenses these many years. I will be sharing what attracts me to a subject, discuss briefly my approach both in camera and in post-production. Everyday subjects will be the focus including captures of local events, travels, family and friend interactions, local landmarks, urban exploration, and critters, just to name a few. A section on black and white is also included. There's even a portion dedicated just to water. Some images will include before and after versions to illustrate the results of post-production techniques. Questions are welcome as time allows.
Steve Manchook's Bio:
In 1961, I was introduced to the magic of photography and the darkroom through a childhood friend. Setting up a home B&W lab very early on, I enjoyed photography as a hobby, later working on my high school newspaper, yearbook staff and serving as president of my high school camera club. In 1973 I attended the Naval School of Photography in Pensacola, Florida and spent four years in aerial reconnaissance. After the service I spent over a decade as a part time wedding, portrait and commercial photographer. Somewhere in the mid-90’s, I caught the judging bug and began judging local photographic competitions. In 1998, I obtained my first home computer system complete with a flatbed scanner and Photoshop v4.0. Learning this complex program became a lifelong pursuit. In 2000, I bought my first digital camera and closed the darkroom permanently. In 2009, a friend encouraged me to teach photography. I am now instructing in both photography and Photoshop. Although New England is my favorite away-from-home destination, the majority of my images are derived from scenes right here at home in northeast Ohio.
