Hispanic Heritage Month Craft Hour: Masapán Bread Dough Turtle

Hispanic Heritage Month Craft Hour: Masapán Bread Dough Turtle In-Person

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with this fun craft, unique to the community of Calderón, Ecuador!

Masapán, a modeling clay made from from a mixture of bread and glue, has been used to create ornaments, sculptures and keepsakes since the 1940s. Join us for this special craft hour where you'll learn how to make masapán and create a miniature sea turtle!

Why sea turtles? The Pacific green turtle is the only species to breed and nest on the Galapagos Islands, which are also part of Ecuador!

Be sure to dress for mess!
